Artist Statement
My favorite medium is watercolor, because of its versatility. I enjoy the special pleasures of working with a variety of fine quality papers, and prefer the thin papers. The beauty of the thin paper lies in its transparency, which enhances the pigments luminous qualities. I play with direct stroke and with the endless variety of tones and hues achieved from a limited palate, so that I can portray strength, beauty, and excitement.
Painting for me, is a method to explore human experiences through a visual medium. Special attention is given to texture of material and creative design. Still life’s have become a preferred playground because it provides a perfect area for abstract composition within a realistic framework. I thrive on the challenge of conceptualizing images to captivate the imagination of my audience. With thoughtful reflection and play I can share my excitement and create a melody of color and shape producing a visual dance.
